Religijne Place Zabaw is outdoor equipment with a religious theme. Rotating blocks, a board with a pawn and a wheel of symbols take children through Bible stories, the lives of the saints and the tradition of the Church. The units stand at parishes, in faith schools and kindergartens, and at shrines.
Naukowe Place Zabaw from Bielsko-Biała - a manufacturer of outdoor educational equipment for kindergartens, schools, municipalities and parishes.
// By the churchThe equipment stands on parish grounds, so children, parents and grandparents use it together.
For generations the parish has taught children prayer, the signs of faith and the values a family passes on. The equipment brings this to the grounds by the church: the boards and blocks show figures, symbols and stories that a child can ask parents, a catechist or the priest about. The conversation starts with what is in front of them.
A grandmother who remembers the pilgrimages of John Paul II and a grandson just learning about his life can stand at the same board. John Paul II Memory gives them a shared topic to talk about.
The units have parts a child moves on their own: a block to turn, a wheel to spin, a pawn to move. The child checks the answer by hand, without waiting for an adult.
The themes and graphics relate to the faith, so the equipment belongs to the church grounds rather than standing beside them as an add-on.
// Faith trailTwo memory games, a board game, two boards and a wheel. A single unit, or several combined into one trail.
Each unit takes one theme, from biblical symbols and the lives of the saints to the story of Noah, and turns it into tasks to do in the open air.

A memory game of biblical symbolism - animals, the attributes of saints and masterpieces of sacred art on rotating blocks.

A parish uses the equipment one way on Sunday, a school another way during the week, and a shrine another way again on a pilgrimage day.
“After Mass there is somewhere to go.”
Children have something to do at the equipment, and adults have time to talk in front of the church. The themes of the boards and blocks - the Bible, the saints and Christian symbols - extend what children hear in the readings and the homily.
“Catechesis steps outside.”
The units add outdoor tasks to a religion lesson: a quiz on what Carlo is patron of, ordering his life story, counting the animals from the ark. After the lesson with the catechist, children can return to them on their own.
“Families stay longer.”
Pilgrims come to the shrine with small children too. The equipment gives the youngest a break between services, so a pilgrimage or retreat does not have to be cut short.
// Outside the buildingFour reasons to hold classes outdoors.
Sessions at outdoor equipment make use of what a classroom lacks: fresh air, room to move and group work.
The equipment is designed for year-round outdoor use. Damp, frost and sun do not damage the materials.
Memory, the board game and the wheel are group games: children wait their turn and look for pairs together, and older ones can give younger ones hints.
The Carlo Acutis board and the trail game in John Paul II Memory include movement tasks, and a trail of several units leads from station to station.
Bible stories, saints and symbols in a form a child can see and touch. As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.
The religious units can be combined with the rest of the Naukowe Place Zabaw catalogue: scientific and sensory equipment and Green Classrooms. At a parish or school, a board about a saint can stand next to experiments in optics, acoustics or music.
